According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, 62-year-old Mark Gibbon from Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, is facing charges of attempted second-degree murder and two counts of battery.
The disturbing event unfolded in the swimming pool of their holiday rental, where Mr. Gibbon is accused of pushing his 33-year-old daughter-in-law under the water repeatedly during an argument regarding their grandchildren. Eyewitness reports indicate that a young girl jumped into the pool to intervene, attempting to stop the assault. The altercation ceased only after two neighboring vacationers claimed they had contacted law enforcement.
Sheriff Grady Judd remarked on the incident, highlighting that Florida is a popular destination for visitors worldwide, yet expects proper conduct from all guests. "Because Mr. Gibbon couldn't control his anger, he may find himself spending a lot more time in Florida than he had anticipated," he stated.
