The incident has been confirmed by the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, which has detained both the woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s on charges of extortion and attempted extortion.
According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, the woman allegedly approached Son last year, asserting she was pregnant with his child and demanding financial compensation for her silence. In a concerning escalation, the man is reported to have contacted Son again in March, reiterating the demands for money.
Son's management agency stated unequivocally that the football icon is a “clear victim” in this troubling scenario, asserting that they are taking the matter seriously. "Son & Football Limited has filed a criminal complaint for blackmail against individuals who threatened the player by claiming they would spread false information," the agency said in a recent public statement.
