In a startling incident highlighting the ongoing battle against drug trafficking, a Peruvian woman has been arrested in Bali after allegedly attempting to smuggle considerable amounts of narcotics valued at approximately $70,000 (£52,000) concealed within her personal belongings, including a sex toy. The suspect, identified only by her initials N.S., was detained by customs officials who became suspicious of her behavior upon her arrival.
The drugs—spanning 1.4kg (3.1lbs) of cocaine and 43 ecstasy pills—were discovered hidden in several well-concealed locations. According to Radiant, the director of the narcotics unit in Bali police, the contraband was intricately wrapped in plastic and duct tape tucked within a green bra and black underwear, alongside a sex toy that housed additional narcotics.
Investigations revealed that the 42-year-old was allegedly paid $19,000 to carry out the smuggling operation, organized by an individual she met on the dark web earlier this year in April. She reportedly traveled from Barcelona, Spain, with a layover in Doha, before arriving in Bali on August 12, where customs officials quickly alerted law enforcement leading to her arrest.
Indonesia is notorious for its stringent drug laws, which carry severe penalties including the death penalty—a reality that has been enacted in previous cases involving foreign nationals.
