Pokémon's developer, Game Freak, has confirmed a data breach after information surfaced online recently. The hack targeted the company’s servers in August, exposing 2,606 items, including names and email addresses of current, former, and contract employees. Game Freak refused to comment on rumors about details of unreleased and upcoming projects being leaked. The company plans to personally inform affected individuals and implement enhanced security protocols to avoid future incidents. “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and concern caused to all involved,” the company stated. Game Freak, in collaboration with Nintendo and the Pokémon Company, is working on Pokémon Legends: Z-A, set to release next year. Concurrently, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company initiated legal proceedings in Japan against Pocketpair, developers of the game Palword, accused of patent infringement due to character similarities with Pokémon.
