In brief
At just 20 years old, Isidora Uribe Silva is making waves in her pursuit of inclusivity for women and disabled individuals. A victim of bullying due to her cerebral palsy, Isidora turned her adversity into action, advocating for accessible spaces and equal representation on platforms such as the United Nations.
In her early teens, Isidora Uribe Silva faced severe discrimination when she transferred schools. There, her cerebral palsy became a barrier, resulting in bullying from her peers and a lack of support from educators. After an isolating seven-month break from education, she found a welcoming environment at Institución Teresiana in Santiago, Chile. This experience ignited a profound awareness of systemic exclusion affecting marginalized communities globally. Now a law student at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, Isidora channels her insights into advocacy for inclusive policies. By the age of 13, she took significant steps towards change by developing Encuentra Tu Lugar (Find Your Place), an application designed to help individuals with disabilities locate accessible parking in Chile. Following the app's success, she founded a non-profit organization under the same name that promotes accessibility.Isidora’s influence extends to international platforms; she is a member of the Generation Equality Adolescent Committee of U.N. Women and part of the newly formed U.N. Women Leaders Network. These initiatives underscore her commitment to fostering gender equity and encouraging women's participation in leadership roles worldwide. With her innovative spirit and personal narrative, Isidora Uribe Silva stands as a beacon of hope and change, advocating for a world where inclusivity is the norm rather than the exception.
