US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth's plane made an unscheduled landing in the UK during a return flight headed for the US, as reported by the Pentagon on social media platform X.
The plane was returning from NATO's Defence Minister meeting in Belgium when a crack in the aircraft windshield prompted the emergency landing.
According to the government, The plane landed based on standard procedures and everyone onboard, including Secretary Hegseth, is safe. Hegseth later confirmed on social media, saying: All good. Thank God. Continue mission!
The aircraft was off the coast of southern Ireland before it decided to turn back and touched down at Royal Air Force Mildenhall.
This incident echoes a previous occurrence in February where a government plane carrying Secretary of State Marco Rubio had to return due to a similar issue with the cockpit window.
Defence ministers had gathered in Belgium to discuss security measures regarding the ongoing situation in Ukraine.
