In a troubling incident that has raised food safety concerns, authorities have arrested a Texas woman who allegedly pushed razor blades into loaves of bread at two Walmart stores in Biloxi, Mississippi. Camille Benson, aged 33, was charged with attempted mayhem and has a bond set at $100,000.
The alarming reports began when shoppers at a Walmart Supercenter and a Walmart Neighborhood Market discovered the razor blades lodged in the bread. Lt. Candace Young, a public information officer for the Biloxi Police Department, confirmed that one customer first reported the razor blade find on December 5. Another customer made a similar report just a few days later, on December 8.
Following these reports, Walmart employees conducted an inspection after a third complaint was received, leading to the discovery of several more tampered loaves. The police were subsequently notified and have confirmed that they do not believe any other local stores have been compromised.
Walmart responded swiftly to the incident, stating, “The health and safety of our customers is always a top priority. We have removed and thoroughly inspected all potentially affected products at impacted stores in Biloxi.” They expressed gratitude for the quick action taken by law enforcement and assured customers they would continue to cooperate with ongoing investigations.
As a precaution, the Biloxi Police Department is urging locals who purchased bread from the affected Walmart locations to inspect their loaves and report any findings. If any tampering is discovered, customers are advised to discard the product and seek a full refund at their local Walmart store.
