The horrific incident transpired during a Battery Creek High School alumni tailgate event early Sunday morning. Responding deputies were met with a chaotic scene where multiple victims and witnesses had fled to nearby businesses for cover.
“The sound of gunfire sent patrons scrambling for safety,” reported the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, who are now leading an extensive investigation into the incident. As of now, four victims have been confirmed dead at the scene, while several others remain hospitalized, with four individuals listed in critical condition.
