The pair were first seen in 2018, and the video set up a huge following worldwide, amassing hundreds of thousands of active viewers on the Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam run by Friends of Big Bear Valley.
After being attacked by other eagles, Jackie was rescued and flown to the Ojai Raptor Center in California. The veterinary team found she was suffering from anemia and significant weight loss, which compounded her recovery from the attack.
Despite intensive care over weeks—including advanced diagnostics and specialized treatments—the bird’s condition continued to worsen. “Over the past several days, her condition continued to deteriorate despite intensive treatment,” the raptor center announced.
