Junior National Rally president Jordan Bardella has announced plans to sue for libel after Mediapart released a dossier claiming he made antisemitic remarks during his early activism in 2013.
The investigative website said it spent months reviewing dozens of written conversations, citing a “bigger documentary base corroborated by witness statements.” According to Mediapart, Bardella allegedly said, “All the banks are owned by Jews,” “The Jew must dominate other people, crush them and rob them,” and warned of a “new world order dominated by Israel, with Jerusalem as its capital.”
Bardella and his party’s president Marine Le Pen denounce the accusations as disinformation engineered to sabotage the RN. “Either Mediapart is running this operation itself, or it is being manipulated by interested parties,” Bardella told CNews. Le Pen called the alleged remarks “so weird that they can only be a forgery.”
The RN has been climbing in opinion polls, with Le Pen currently leading the first round and projecting a strong roll‑over victory. The party has also attempted to distance itself from its far‑right roots, even visiting Israel last year and presenting itself as a “shield for the Jewish community.”
Political observers warn that the scandal could destabilize the RN’s fragile image and delay its bid for power, while critics argue the allegations expose a latent far‑right ideology still present in the movement. Whether the RN’s future aligns more firmly with inclusive policies, and how that could affect France’s climate commitments and EU environmental regulations, remains uncertain.
