Swedish Terrorist Charged for the 2015 Execution of Jordanian Pilot Lt. Moaz al-Kasasbeh
Osama Krayem faces war and terrorism charges linked to the brutal killing of the Jordanian pilot by ISIS, as his trial is set to commence in June.
Swedish authorities have charged Osama Krayem, a 32-year-old convicted terrorist, with war and terrorism crimes relating to the 2015 killing of Jordanian pilot Moaz al-Kasasbeh, who was burned alive by ISIS in Syria. Currently imprisoned for his role in the Paris and Brussels terror attacks, Krayem is set to face trial on June 4 after being linked to the pilot's execution through an extensive investigation.
The Swedish Prosecution Authority recently announced the charges, indicating that Krayem, armed and masked, was involved in forcing Lt. Kasasbeh into a metal cage before he was set on fire by co-perpetrators. The death of Kasasbeh, a pilot captured during a mission against ISIS in late 2014, was confirmed by Jordan after the horrific video of his death circulated online.
Krayem hails from Malmö, Sweden, and reportedly traveled to Syria in September 2014 to fight for ISIS. He was sentenced in June 2022 to 30 years in prison for his involvement in the November 2015 Paris attacks that resulted in 130 deaths, as well as for planning an attack on Amsterdam airport. Following his convictions, Krayem was transferred from France to Sweden to face the latest allegations regarding the brutal execution.
