An urgent rescue operation has commenced following the sinking of the tourist boat, Sea Story, in the Red Sea. The vessel, which set out from a port near Marsa Alam, carried 45 individuals, including 31 tourists and 14 crew members.

According to the Red Sea Governorate Announcements, the distress signal from the 44-meter-long boat was received early Saturday at approximately 05:30 local time (03:30 GMT). Upon this alarm, local authorities launched a rapid response in an effort to locate and rescue those on board.

Major General Amr Hanafi reported that some survivors were identified in the Wadi el-Gemal area, situated south of Marsa Alam. A portion of them has since been airlifted for urgent medical assistance, while others await retrieval by an Egyptian warship currently in the vicinity.

As the search efforts persist, air and naval teams are continuing their operation, focusing on locating any remaining individuals potentially still missing from this tragic event. The community remains hopeful for the safe return of all onboard as search operations expand across the Red Sea.
