More than 100 individuals were evacuated from a luxury residential skyscraper in Buenos Aires, Argentina, due to a fire that engulfed several floors of the building. According to emergency services, the blaze prompted the rapid evacuation of residents; 40 people required treatment for smoke inhalation, and some were hospitalized as the situation was brought under control.
The fire, which has not yet been explained, spread significantly, reaching the 15th floor of the 50-story building located in the affluent Puerto Madero area. Alberto Crescenti, the head of Buenos Aires emergency services, informed the media that broken glass fell as the fire raged, but emphasized the effectiveness of the evacuation process, reducing the risk to residents.
Firefighter Christian Benitez confirmed that all occupants had been successfully evacuated and were out of danger. One resident, 30-year-old Ornella Gril, recounted her experience to AFP, noting she swiftly descended the building upon hearing the fire alarm.
Among the affected was ex-footballer Mariano Pavone, who shared his concern for fellow residents as he evacuated with his son and dog, expressing relief that his apartment sustained no damage. While anxiety looms among residents, authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
