**The Rise of Global Music Stars in India: A New Era for Live Events**

As international artists like Coldplay and Ed Sheeran expand their tours to India, the country's music landscape is evolving.

Growing demand for live performances and a youthful population make India an attractive destination for global musicians.

In recent years, the clamoring for global music acts to visit India has reached a fever pitch, with music enthusiasts expressing their frustrations over the years at the seeming neglect of their vibrant, populous nation by renowned artists. Historically, the likes of Ed Sheeran and Coldplay have skipped India during their tours, leaving fans yearning for live performances from their idols. This trend, however, appears to be shifting.

Dua Lipa's recent concert in Mumbai served as a pivotal moment, showcasing the thriving demand for live music in the region. Coldplay is slated to perform in Ahmedabad, marking their return after nine years, with anticipation suggesting that over 100,000 fans could attend each of their two shows.

According to ticketing platform BookMyShow, India's appetite for live music is on the rise, with projections indicating an 18% growth by 2024. Big names like Ed Sheeran are also set to headline the largest tour in the country, while the renowned music festival Lollapalooza will feature stars like Shawn Mendes and Louis Tomlinson in March 2024.

Marketing expert Dr. Sourindra Banerjee emphasizes that India's enormous youth demographic makes it a key target for artists looking to expand their global reach. The Indian music industry's value, which reached 19 billion rupees (around £178 million) in 2021, is anticipated to grow to 37 billion rupees (£346 million) by 2026, signaling a lucrative opportunity for international musicians. Dr. Banerjee adds that the popularity of K-pop in India has demonstrated to Western artists the vast potential for engaging with Indian fans.

As international artists make their way to India, local musicians are hopeful for greater visibility and collaboration opportunities. Anoushka Maskey, an aspiring singer, shared her excitement about the prospect of collaborating with global stars. Many Indian artists agree that being associated with famous names can elevate their careers, providing a chance to learn from industry veterans.

However, some Indian musicians express concern that the influx of global stars might overshadow local talent, potentially steering audiences away from upcoming acts. Frizzell D'Souza, a Bangalore pop artist, believes that emerging artists might struggle to compete for attention as ticket buyers gravitate towards big-name acts. Still, others feel that this challenge might also inspire local artists to enhance their craft.

Industry experts also underscore the importance of improving the infrastructure in India to accommodate major artists like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, who have yet to tour the country. Many major events currently take place in sports stadiums, which are frequently unavailable for concerts due to India's cricket season, leading to calls for better facilities and dedicated music venues to accommodate the growing number of international acts.

Overall, with global music stars increasingly targeting India, the nation holds immense promise as a burgeoning concert destination. As the landscape of live music continues to transform, it offers both challenges and opportunities for local artists and the evolving music scene in India.
