The incident reportedly occurred Thursday morning during a confrontation with an unidentified man, leading to Khan receiving immediate medical attention. According to eyewitness accounts and police reports, Khan was attacked while trying to protect his family. The altercation escalated when a caregiver noticed a shadowy figure armed with a knife and a wooden object demanding cash. Eliyama Philip, who was looking after Khan’s son, described hearing a commotion and called for help once she saw the intruder threatening them.

As Khan confronted the intruder, he was stabbed, resulting in significant injuries to his neck and back, with a knife fragment lodged in his spine. Medical professionals at Lilavati Hospital confirmed that timely surgical intervention was crucial in preventing severe spinal injuries. Dr. Nitin Dange reported on Friday that Khan is in recovery and soon to be moved out of the ICU, although further precautions and limited mobility will be necessary for the coming week.

Mumbai Police Deputy Commissioner Dixit Gadam shared updates on the investigation, noting the weapon used in the attack has not yet been recovered. Initial findings suggest the attacker accessed the apartment through the fire escape ladder.
