**Tehran Faces Imminent Water Shortage As Crisis Deepens**

Tehran is on the brink of an unprecedented water crisis, exacerbated by extreme weather and mismanagement. As reservoirs dry up, the city could run out of water in mere weeks.

The situation has escalated to critical levels, urging immediate action from authorities and citizens alike.

Amidst a relentless five-year drought and decades of ineffective management, Tehran, the capital of Iran, finds itself gripped by a severe water crisis. The primary water supply source, the Amir Kabir dam located just north of the city, has dwindled to historically low levels. Citizens now face the dire reality that their water supplies could be entirely depleted within weeks.

In recent weeks, reports have emerged indicating that once substantial reservoirs have been reduced to mere puddles. The lack of water pressure means that many residents are left without running water for hours, forcing them to look for alternatives such as water tanks while hoarding any available supplies. Alongside this water deficiency, the region has been sweltering in extreme heat conditions, with recent records showing heat indices soaring to an astonishing 149 degrees Fahrenheit, further complicating the lives of the already burdened residents.

The country is also grappling with ongoing energy shortages causing widespread power outages, which compounds the challenges faced by the Iranian populace. Following a tumultuous 12-day conflict involving Israel and the United States last month, many Iranians are now tasked with navigating life under severe shortages of basic needs, including water.

Government officials have expressed urgent concern over the unsustainable trajectory of water resources. President Masoud Pezeshkian articulated the gravity of the situation during a recent cabinet meeting, emphasizing the critical need for immediate action to avert a future crisis that may prove to be irreversible. He implored citizens to conserve water, as the government's forecast for Tehran’s water supply was grim and further raised alarms over the impending shortage.

The combination of extreme weather patterns, prolonged drought, and systematic neglect of water management resources paints a bleak picture for Tehran. Without decisive and swift measures, the potential of this crisis worsening remains a pressing issue for both the residents and authorities. As advocacy for urgent solutions grows, the fate of Tehran’s water supply hangs in a tenuous balance.
