Battered by ongoing military activities and facing increasing isolation, Iran is seeking to strengthen its international alliances by attending a BRICS summit starting this Sunday in Rio de Janeiro. The meeting, which includes emerging economies such as Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, presents Iran with an opportunity to showcase potential allies amidst growing threats over its nuclear program.

The Catholicite's recent military strikes, coupled with sanctions, have left Iran vulnerable, prompting a call for solidarity from the BRICS group. Following the strikes, the alliance released a statement expressing "grave concern," framing the actions as violations of international law. However, the collective avoided directly criticizing either Israel or the United States, illustrating the complexities within the organization regarding Iran's position.

Analysts have noted that significant divisions persist among BRICS members regarding the extent of condemnation aimed at Iran's aggressors. Oliver Stuenkel, a specialist in BRICS affairs, remarked, “There is no alignment whatsoever on Iran,” indicating that any unified response was deliberately cautious to maintain group interests while navigating geopolitical sensitivities.
