On the Russian side, an oil depot fire erupted early Sunday near the popular Black Sea resort of Sochi, an event attributed by Russian officials to a Ukrainian drone strike. Veniamin Kondratyev, the Governor of Krasnodar Region, confirmed on Telegram that debris from the drone hit a fuel tank, provoking a fire that required the efforts of 127 firefighters to control.
This drone strike is part of a larger wave of operations initiated by Ukraine over the weekend, which also targeted military-related infrastructure in the southern Russian cities of Ryazan, Penza, and Voronezh. Reports indicate that four individuals suffered injuries from a specific strike in Voronezh.
In response to the intensifying violence, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has advocated for greater international sanctions against Russia. The urgency follows a catastrophic missile attack on Kyiv that claimed at least 31 lives and saw the launch of over 300 drones combined with eight cruise missiles.
