More than 20 women have reported new allegations against Zou Zhenhao, a Chinese student recently convicted in London of drugging and raping 10 women in both Britain and China. The Metropolitan Police announced on Wednesday that 23 women have contacted them following his conviction last month. Some of these women reside in Britain, while others have reached out from China and various countries worldwide.
Investigations into Zou's actions reveal a disturbing pattern, with authorities estimating he may have assaulted more than 50 women, based on the discovery of numerous videos on his electronic devices. Zou, 28, was pursuing his Ph.D. at University College London from 2019 until 2024. Evidence presented during his trial, which lasted several weeks, indicated that he lured women to his residences — both in London and China — where he then drugged and attacked them.
Zou met many of his victims through dating apps such as Bumble and various social media platforms, including Chinese apps WeChat and Little Red Book. He particularly targeted Chinese students in London whom he may have encountered at events and gatherings.
On March 5, a jury found Zou guilty of multiple sexual offenses, including 11 counts of rape, possession of drugs intended for sexual assault, voyeurism, and the possession of extreme pornography. While two women testified against him during the trial, many others have yet to be identified. Authorities believe that due to the circumstances involving drugging, some victims may be unaware of the assaults against them. After securing the conviction, the police have actively encouraged more victims to come forward with their accounts.
