Severe Turbulence Injures Eight on Ryanair Flight, Diversion to Germany

Turbulent weather conditions cause emergency landing, with passengers receiving medical attention.

A Ryanair flight from Berlin to Milan was diverted to southern Germany after severe turbulence injured eight passengers, including a toddler. Medical assistance was sought as the plane landed safely, and alternative transport was arranged.

Eight passengers were injured on a Ryanair flight on Wednesday night, which had to divert to Memmingen Airport in southern Germany due to severe turbulence attributed to adverse weather conditions. Bavarian police reported that among those hurt were a two-year-old child suffering from bruises and an adult who sustained a head injury. Three individuals required hospitalization for treatment, while others received care on-site.

The flight was scheduled to travel from Berlin to Milan. Faced with the inability to land at Munich Airport because of inclement weather, the captain opted for Memmingen, where the aircraft arrived safely at 20:44 local time (18:44 GMT) with all 179 passengers and six crew members onboard.

In response to the situation, Ryanair expressed its apology to affected passengers and coordinated for medical assistance ahead of landing. Due to regulatory issues, an onward flight was not authorized by the Southern Bavaria Aviation Authority on the same night. However, Ryanair ensured alternative transport to Milan was arranged, along with a replacement flight planned for Thursday morning. All passengers were evaluated for injuries as a precautionary measure, and reports indicate that the injured individuals' ages ranged between two and 59.
