Colombian pop sensation Shakira has announced the cancellation of her highly anticipated concert at Nationals Park in Washington, DC, originally set for Saturday as part of the massive WorldPride festival. This decision follows complications that arose during her previous show in Boston, where unsafe structural elements of the stage prompted the last-minute cancellation of her performance at Fenway Park.

The event organizers at Nationals Park cited these unforeseen issues as the reason for being unable to transport Shakira's full tour production to DC in time. A statement from the venue confirmed that despite substantial efforts to salvage the performance, it was simply unfeasible to proceed as planned. The concert's cancellation was met with immediate regret from Shakira, who took to social media to express her anguish. The 48-year-old artist stated, “I have been counting the days, excited to be reunited with my fans in both Washington and Boston.”

Fans who made the trek to DC expressing disappointment echoed her sentiments. Many had traveled across the country specifically for the performance, with one frustrated fan sharing, “Flew in from LA for this. I'm experiencing a second cancellation of this tour.” While some fans voiced their exasperation, others showed solidarity with the singer, insisting she did not deserve these unfortunate setbacks.

The issue in Boston was reported to have stemmed from a safety inspection revealing that structural elements of the stage were not up to standard, leading to the cancellation of additional performances by country artists Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn the following night. The concert in Washington was supposed to be part of Shakira's tour in support of her 12th studio album, "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran." As a result of this disruption, Nationals Park is providing automatic refunds to all ticket holders.

Currently, Shakira is slated to continue her tour with a performance in Atlanta on Monday, 2 June, as fans remain hopeful for smoother productions in the days to come.
