Man Charged with Arson Linked to California Wildfire Remains in Custody

ORLANDO, Fla. — A federal judge in Florida ruled Thursday that Jonathan Rinderknecht, charged in connection with the devastating Palisades Fire in California, will remain in custody. Concerns regarding his mental health and potential flight risk led to the decision.

Rinderknecht, who resided in Southern California prior to his arrest, allegedly ignited a small fire that smoldered underground before reigniting and devastating coastal Pacific Palisades and Malibu on January 7, resulting in the death of 12 individuals and the destruction of over 17,000 homes.
